Four Eleven Gallery announces new landscape paintings, Fieldwork: The Time We Spent in Silence, by Pete Hocking. This is his sixth solo show with the gallery which opens Friday, July 12th with a public celebration from 7:00 to 9:00pm, and through July 25th.
A visual poet of the dunes, Hocking’s work is masterful, with sweeping landscapes in lush colors. This suite of paintings explore his on-going relationship with the Outer Cape landscape, and re-imagines the shared awe he experienced with a number of companions during walks taken over the past year. Hocking’s work continues to be concerned with the ways individual identity is inscribed into human and non-human landscapes, and ultimately in the ways that the non-human world defies intervention.
