SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW

Four Eleven is proud to present Paul Rizzo’s second solo show at the gallery, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Paul is a painter who lives and works in Provincetown Massachusetts. He works with and from the local landscape, images from 70s gay porn and old Hollywood, portraiture, abstraction, and text. His work often evokes nostalgia both for the times in which he lives in and for times he’s not directly experienced.
As a process painter, Rizzo loves getting lost in his process of making art. This body of work focuses on an idea of pulling together the various pieces of his preoccupations. Rizzo says, “ I’m always interested in the idea of finding my home and, I guess, feeling at home. I explore the past and the present -- both in Provincetown and through images of gay culture -- as a way of navigating my search for a place and documenting the places and times I explore.”
