HELEN GRIMM

Helen Grimm is a lifelong Cape Cod resident and artist who is inspired by the water’s edge, the forest floor and the changing Outer Cape skies. She works primarily in oil paint on canvas and her works are known for their simplicity in form and creating a the feeling of ease and expansiveness in her brushwork. Her works pay homage to humble weathered natural forms of shells, water, stones and wood marked by time. The bleached, bone-like surfaces of oysters set against bursts of vibrant color are a subject she finds endlessly compelling.

Returning again and again to natural forms of landscape and light, Helen always finds new paths to explore lines, shapes, and scale - sometimes pushing far nto abstraction. These paintings often evoke the experience of looking underwater or through trees; where forms are elusive and shifting and one may not quite see the object itself, but senses its essence.

Helen has a BA in Fine Art from Cornell University and a Masters in Nursing. She is also an avid gardener and a gifted herbalist.
