Paul Rizzo is a painter and sketchbook-keeper based in Provincetown, Massachusetts. He is a process painter, and nostalgia runs through his work, not only for a time he experienced but also for time periods he has not lived through, including old Hollywood and the culture, gay porn, music, and fashion of the late ’70s and early ’80s.
His work is shaped by a wide field of obsessions, influences, and inspirations, including the Muppets, rainbows, text, dreamhouses, mixed media collage, hypothetical magazine covers, movies, plaid, portraiture, queer still life, play, exploration, and a general sense of curiosity.
Paul has a BFA in painting from Massachusetts College of Art.
